What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a tool that we use for treatment. During hypnosis, the hypnotherapist induces a state of intense concentration or focused attention. It is a trance-like state and can feel similar to sleep or deep relaxation. Trance states are completely natural and are part of our common human experience, such as getting lost in a good book, walking the dog or driving a familiar route with no conscious recollection. The hypnotherapist can make guided suggestions to help you achieve your goals by harnessing this natural skill.
The use of hypnotic trance states can be dated back thousands of years and began to grow during the late 18th century. Research suggests that distinct sections of the brain are visibly altered when someone is under hypnosis, the areas that are most affected are the areas that play a role in action control and awareness. Hypnotherapy combines proven therapeutic approaches with the benefits of hypnosis, this means that people are not treated with hypnosis but are treated in in hypnosis.
What is Hypnotherapy?
At Hapus Hypnotherapy we use modern, clinically proven therapeutic techniques along with the state of trance to help people make positive changes within a relatively short period. Trance is a very natural, relaxing state of mind. It is encouraged by using guided relaxation, where the mind can relax and focus on thoughts and suggestions that might be useful to the mind.
How does it work?
Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a collaborative process and is designed to reduce anxiety, calm the mind and support you. Using a powerful combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis, clients can make changes in a relatively short time. Solution-focused hypnotherapy focuses on the changes that you would like to make, rather than the problem itself. It asks the client how they want things to be, rather than dwelling on the problems that caused them to seek help. Thinking positively helps to rewire your brain and build healthy new behaviour patterns.
What happens in a session?
Each session begins by exploring the positive things that have happened over the last week. We’ll explore how these positive things have made you feel, helping you visualize your steps towards your goals. We consolidate sessions with Hypnosis, guiding you into a state of focused attention and deep relaxation which we refer to as a trance. Trance is completely natural, you may have experienced this when driving, walking the dog, watching a great film and you completely lose track of time.
Is it safe?
No-one can be hypnotized against their will and even when in trance people can still reject any of the suggestions given if they are not appropriate.*Results may vary and success is not guaranteed. The client will need to want to make the changes and be fully committed to the process
